How To Make the Most of Your Smoothie Bowl
We love starting our days with a smoothie on-the-go, but when you have more time, treating yourself to a refreshing smoothie bowl can be a great way to start the day!
While we believe that smoothie bowls are one of the best ways to make sure you’re getting enough nutrients early in the day, the real benefits of your smoothie bowl all depend on how you make yours. Here are our top tips to make sure that your smoothie bowl is as nutritious as it is delicious!
- Make it green. Adding spinach or kale to the base of your smoothie bowl is one of the easiest ways to add in those nutrients to your diet. Plus, by blending them into your smoothie you won’t even have to taste them!
- Say yes to protein. Eating a protein-rich breakfast is good for managing your hunger levels, balancing your hormones, and giving you energy for the day. But eggs and meat aren’t your only breakfast protein options! Try adding almond butter or your favorite protein powder into your smoothie bowl to get the same benefits.
- Don’t fear fats. Let us be clear: adding fats to your diet will not make you fat. You just have to make sure you’re including the right kind of fats into your diet! To make your smoothie bowl as well-balanced as possible, try topping it with healthy fats like nuts and seeds, or blending your base with avocado (this will also make your bowl so much creamier!).
- Limit sugar-filled toppings. As healthy as fruits are, when you fill and top your smoothie bowl with fruit, it’s guaranteed to have high amounts of natural sugars in it. That’s why you need to watch how much other sugars (like honey, agave nectar, or granola) you top the bowl with. Keep it to a minimum, and you shouldn’t have any problems!
