Our Favorite Healthy Smoothie Bases

One of the questions we get most often is...

“What liquid should I blend my smoothie with?!”

While you can blend a smoothie with whatever liquid you have on hand, we know that sometimes it can be helpful to figure out what liquids not only taste great with your smoothie, but will make it as healthy and nourishing to your body as possible. Here are a few of our favorite liquid smoothie bases that do just that!

 

 

Coconut water. Coconut water is one staple liquid base that will make any and all of your smoothies taste oh so delicious. Plus, it’s low in calories, full of natural electrolytes to keep you hydrated, and dense with nutrients like potassium, calcium, and magnesium!

Almond milk. When you’re looking for a dairy-free alternative that will still make your smoothie creamy, almond milk is the best choice. It is typically vitamin-fortified, low in calories and sugar, and blends incredibly well with almost every smoothie variety!

Orange juice. When you’re after a sweet, tangy smoothie for the spring and summer, pure orange juice is our favorite choice! While it is higher in natural sugars than the other liquids mentioned, it is incredibly nutrient-dense, immune-boosting, and will give you tons of natural energy!
